‘Mollymawk' - Solander Island

A4: $100, edition of 80
A3: $180, edition of 60
A2: $400, edition of 10

The reference photo taken by Andris Apse, a New Zealand landscape photographer.

Solander island is at the western end of Foveaux Strait and is extremely isolated from people. I don't know the full story so don't quote me on this but apparently there were some people stuck on the island for a very long time and managed to survive off the sea birds and pinnipeds that frequented the island. This was the case for many islands south of the South Island of new Zealand because of the popular shipping route around the time of sealers and whales. Many shipwrecks have been recorded in this stretch of ocean to the point where refuges were created with supplies to prepare for when people were shipwrecked in these harsh environments.
